The 68th National Film Awards event took place last night (September 30) in New Delhi and the winners received their memento and awards from the Honourable President of India, Droupadi Murmu. Suriya bagged his debut National award for his exceptional performance as Nedumaaran Rajangam (Maara) in Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara. The visuals of Suriya receiving the National Award went viral and were all over social media yesterday. It was indeed the trending topic on social media. The fans were delighted in seeing their favourite actor receive the National honour.

That being said, Suriya has now shared a new picture on his official Twitter page and this one is a beautiful heartwarming picture. Suriya is seen posing along with his entire family - wife Jyotika, son Dev, daughter Diya, father Sivakumar, and his mother and all of them are seen brimming with smiles and happiness. The picture has instantly turned viral on social media and has been doing great rounds. Sharing the picture, Suriya expressed his gratefulness to Sudha Kongara for making this happen and also dedicated the award to his fans.

Soorarai Pottru got a total of 5 National Film Awards - Best Actor (Suriya), Best Actress (Aparna Balamurali), Best Music Director - BGM (GV Prakash Kumar), Best Feature Film (2D Entertainment/Jyotika), Best Screenplay (Sudha Kongara, Shalini Usha Devi). Suriya is currently busy acting in his next, Suriya 42, directed by Siva. The film is being made on a large scale and will have a pan Indian release in 10 different languages.

The film is expected to showcase Suriya in a completely different dimension and the fans have pinned high hopes on the movie. However, Suriya's next release will be Vanangaan in which he is reuniting with acclaimed director Bala. Krithi Shetty plays the female lead.
