Suriya's critically acclaimed blockbuster Jai Bhim has fetched newer laurels, this time at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival. The film has bagged two prominent awards at the festival and the makers shared the good news on Twitter. Jai Bhim has won awards for Best Film and Best Supporting Actor at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival. Manikandan who delivered an impactful performance as Rajakannu will be receiving the Best Supporting Actor award. The official tweet from the makers read, "#JaiBhim wins the Best Film & Best Supporting Actor awards at the #DadaSahebPhalkeFilmFestival Thank you @dadasahebfest for the honour! Jai Bhim has already secured several awards at various film festivals and this one is one more feather to its cap. Jai Bhim follows the story of Advocate Chandru (Suriya) who fights for the justice of Rajakannu (Manikandan), a tribal man belonging to the oppressed community, who gets falsely accused of a robbery and goes missing from the police custody. The film had its heart in the right place and left a lasting impact on the audience and it gave a huge breakthrough for the people who worked in the film. With an overwhelming response from the masses, the film registered record breaking viewership on Amazon Prime Video.

The film featured Suriya, Manikandan, Lijomol Jose, Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, and Guru Somasundaram in the star cast and had music composed by Sean Roldan. TJ Gnanvel of Kootathil Oruthan fame directed the film. All eyes are now on director TJ Gnanavel's next film and let us hope for the official developments to follow up. Suriya, on the acting side, is currently busy with his Bala film which features Krithi Shetty as the female lead. After completing the Bala film, Suriya will be joining hands with director Siva for a new film.
