Superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe which released in theatres for this year's festive occasion of Diwali has turned out to be a hit at the box office with extensive support from the family audiences. Having said that, Rajinikanth has now reacted to Annaatthe's success through a voice note that he has posted on his daughter, Soundarya's Hoote app. While thanking the audience for the film's box office success, Rajinikanth recalled the moments of how Annaatthe happened. The legendary actor was all praise for the film's director Siva.

Reacting to the film's box office performance, Rajinikanth said, "Petta and Viswasam were released together and both the films turned out successful. After hearing rave things about Viswasam, I requested my friend and producer Thyagarajan to screen the film and I watched it. I really liked the film and as the film moved towards its climax, it made me so emotional. I cheered for the film with a lot of happiness. I called director Siva to my house to congratulate him personally and our meeting was so positive. Only while interacting with Siva,

I understood that he was a child at heart. He had nothing but only love and positivity to give. When I asked him if he has an interesting script for me, he said yes and was confident of delivering success. Citing the examples of Thalapathi, Muthu, Padaiyappa, Siva said that my films have always been successful when I am a part of story-driven films. He also added that it has been a long time since I acted in a village-based subject, assuring that it will be refreshing for the audience to watch.

When he narrated the film's story, I had tears in my eyes. I asked him to execute the film with the same conviction with which he narrated the story. He promised me not to worry. He lived up to the promise and made Annaatthe a likeable film. Solli Adichrukaru Siva. The film has won big among the family audiences and ladies. My heartfelt thanks and wishes to Siva sir and team, Sun Pictures, and the entire team for the success of Annaatthe"
