A war is brewing in Hawkins.

After nearly 3 years in the making and numerous postponements in its schedule due to the pesky coronavirus pandemic, Stranger Things 4 is finally all set to release. Netflix finally unveiled the official trailer for season 4 of its sci-fi horror series which features the Stranger kids all grown up and facing a new supernatural threat that puts the Demogorgon and Mind Flayer to shame. And while Stranger Things has explored the larger world outside of Hawkins in the past, the upcoming season is expected to switch things up a bit by splitting its story across a handful of locations including Hawkins itself, Russia, and the Upside Down!

The trailer starts off with Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Max attempting to have a normal high school experience, while Eleven and Will try and adapt to their new life in California. But as they navigate through their different surroundings, a new supernatural threat emerges, forcing them to once again confront the horrors of the Upside Down. We see some new characters and our main characters stroll into the parallel universe themselves in order to get to the bottom of whatever is going on. In the last few seconds of the trailer, the unsavory new antagonist of the season is introduced, and it seems to be a human-Demogorgon hybrid that speaks. “It’s time. You have lost,” he declares.

The upcoming fourth season is scheduled to release worldwide exclusively on Netflix in two volumes, with the first set for 27 May 2022, and the second on 1 July 2022. It will have nine episodes and has continued to be produced by the show's creators the Duffer Brothers, along with Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Iain Paterson. The show's main cast will continue to consist of Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke and Priah Ferguson with Brett Gelman promoted to regular status in the series.
