Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu arrived in theatres on Thursday after many trials and tribulations, including an unexpected last minute setback, with the response to the film being nothing short than phenomenal. Directed by Venkat Prabhu under producer Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions and featuring music by composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, the mass masala political entertainer has collected Rs. 8 Crores + (approx.) at the Tamil Nadu box office on Day 1, with social media abuzz with rave reviews. With the film basking in the glory of commercial and critical success, Suresh Kamatchi and Venkat Prabhu on late Friday evening took to social media to inform fans that 'Superstar' Rajinikanth had called them, including STR over the phone and conveyed his wishes to all of them after watching their Maanaadu

Suresh Kamatchi stated, "This day has turned out to be a wonderful day. The phone call from Superstar and his appreciation has cemented the victory for this film. Your place at the throne is because of your heart that praises everything good. His words have given us a lot of strength. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to him on behalf of the entire crew. Maanaadu has Silambarasan playing the role of a Muslim character named Abdul Khaaliq, with S. J. Suryah as a cop named Dhanush Kodi. The film revolving around a political conference and how their two characters get stuck in the midst of a time-loop has turned out to be a fun affair n theatres, with both stars' performances being celebrated by fans. Apart from STR and S. J. Suryah, Maanaadu has an ensemble cast featuring the likes of Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead, followed by veteran director S. A. Chandrashekar, Y. Gee. Mahendran, Premgi Amaren, Karunakaran, Daniel Annie Pope among others in pivotal roles.
