Silambarasan TR made a stunning comeback to social media in 2020 by releasing a video showing his radical physical transformation, which left fans and many in the Tamil film industry stunned. Simbu, who was bestowed with an honorary doctorate from Vels University for his distinguished excellence in the field of cinema last month, has come a long way over the last couple of years and has released two films since then - Eeswaran and Maanaadu, while also signing up for new ventures like Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, Pathu Thala and Corona Kumar. Now, STR has released a new video of his physical transformation that shows the hard work and the efforts he had undertaken in getting back to shape. The entire experience had been an arduous one, which the flamboyant actor had described in earlier interviews, while also informing that the video was being shared as a motivation for youngsters everywhere.
Simbu's journey since mid-2020 has turned out to be a phenomenal one as the actor had been going through a rough phase for a brief period. The star then bounced back big time and has come out all guns blazing with two back-to-back releases starting with Eeswaran, which received positive feedback from fans, following which he delivered the blockbuster Maanaadu. STR will next be seen in the highly-anticipated action drama, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, being produced by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh's Vels Films International, with the final leg of filming expected to kick-start in the days ahead. Being directed by Gautham Menon with music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the upcoming film marks the third-time collaboration for Silambarasan with the duo after their Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada.
Silambarasan's next is Pathu Thala, a remake of the 2017 Kannada blockbuster Mufti, which has the actor and Gautham Karthik cast in the roles earlier portrayed by Shiva Rajkumar and Sriimurali, respectively. Obeli N. Krishna of Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame is directing the neo-noir Tamil film under the Studio Green banner, which will see Simbu playing the role of a gangster and Gautham Karthik as a cop, while Priya Bhavani Shankar is cast in a pivotal role, and includes music by A. R. Rahman. STR also has in his lineup the highly-exciting Corona Kumar, which will see him teaming up with director Gokul of Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara and Kaashmora fame.
