Suriya's Soorarai Pottru is the current talk of the town and it is for all the good and happy reasons. Soorarai Pottru won not one, not two, but five awards at the recently announced 68th National Film Awards. The film bagged all the main awards which include - Best Actor (Suriya), Best Actress (Aparna Balamurali), Best Music Director - Background Score (GV Prakash Kumar), Best Feature Film - Soorarai Pottru, Best Screenplay (Shalini Usha Nair and Sudha Kongara). Interestingly, it is the maiden National award for all of the winners.

Meanwhile, Soorarai Pottru had a theatrical screening this week at Green Cinemas, Padi, owned by popular producer KE Gnanavel Raja. Suriya celebrated his birthday on July 23 and marking the special occasion, Soorarai Pottru was screened at Green Cinemas for three days (July 22 - July 24) and the shows went houseful for all the three days. In a surprising manner, director Sudha Kongara and music director GV Prakash watched the film along with the fans yesterday (July 23) during one of the shows and the audiences were pleasantly taken aback seeing the two.

Sudha has mentioned in many of her interviews that one thing she really missed and felt bad about Soorarai Pottru was the theatrical experience and so she made sure to catch the film on the big screens along with the audiences. After the end of the film, Sudha met the press and media and expressed her happiness about seeing the film in the theatres for once. During the interaction, she also officially confirmed her next film. Sudha made it official that the Soorarai Pottru team is coming together once again for a new film, informing that Suriya is her next film's hero.

Only after completing the Suriya film, Sudha will move to her pan Indian film under the production of Hombale Films, which is already announced. Sudha is currently working on the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru which stars Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan in the lead roles. Happening days ahead for the star filmmaker!
