Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu released last year saw the superstar make a spectacular comeback and made over 100 crores in box office collections. Directed by Venkat Prabhu under Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions banner and featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the mass masala action political entertainer included several big notable names in its star cast apart from Simbu, including filmmaker-actor SJ Suryah as the antagonist. Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu, which revolved around the time-loop concept, pitted STR and SJ Suryah up against each other and saw them both deliver fantastic performances.

The makers of Maanaadu on Wednesday released a special video montage on SJ Suryah, who plays the role of a cop named Dhanushkodi, and is seen in a few key moments alongside Simbu. The film showed the two stars stuck in a time loop and STR making several attempts to stop an assassination attempt by SJ Suryah and Y. G. Mahendran on S. A. Chandrasekhar, who plays the role of the Chief Minister. Apart from the birthday tribute, producer Suresh Kamatchi too conveyed his heartfelt birthday wishes on Twitter writing, "If an actor on the opposite end shifts for even a single second, he will take over the scene completely. A sculptor who sculpts himself, my love and friendship for my dear friend @iam_SJSuryah. Many happy returns of the day." Check out the birthday tweets for SJ Suryah below:

Wishing our Dhanushkodi @iam_SJSuryah sir... A very Happy Birthday

SJ Suryah has carved a niche for himself as a performer in recent times and STR's Maanaadu once again proved to be a strong testimony. The director-turned-actor has delivered many memorable performances over the years in films like Iraivi, Spyder, Mersal, Monster, Nenjam Marappathillai, and more recently in Sivakarthikeyan's Don. SJ Suryah's upcoming lineup includes films such as Kadamaiyai Sei, Bommai, and Mark Antony alongside Vishal.
