Sivakarthikeyan is currently one of the busiest stars in Tamil cinema and will be seen next in the highly-anticipated Doctor under Kolamaavu Kokila fame Nelson Dilipkumar's direction hitting screens on October 9. SK, who also has in his line up films like the fun college entertainer Don and the sci-fi venture Ayalaan, had back in 2013 starred in Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, which went on to become a huge commercial success. Directed by Ponram, the rom-com family entertainer starred Sivakarthikeyan opposite Sri Divya, with Sathyaraj and Soori as well appearing in pivotal roles. For a while now, there have been reports and speculations that a sequel for Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam was under development, with the Seema Raja director himself taking to social media to issue an official statement.

Confirming that there will be a Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam 2, Ponram informed on Twitter that Sivakarthikeyan would not be a part of the upcoming project. He tweeted, "Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam part 2 will come out for sure. Sivakarthikeyan has become too mature. The Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam will be made with a young and upcoming actor. Podra Vediya." Check out the tweet below:

As for director Ponram's next film, he is currently awaiting the release of MGR Magan starring Sasi Kumar and Mirnalini Ravi as the lead pair, with Sathyaraj, Samuthrakani, Nandhita Swetha among others cast in pivotal roles. Sivakarthikeyan, on the other hand, wrapped up shooting for Ayalaan earlier this year featuring music by A. R. Rahman, and is currently filming Don under newcomer Cibi Chakaravarthi’s direction.
