National award winning choreographer and film and television artiste Siva Sankar, 73, has tested COVID-19 positive. According to reports, the veteran performer's health condition is said to be critical and had been placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the AIG hospital, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, four days back. Speaking to ETimes TV, Siva Sankar's son Ajay said, "Yes, his condition is critical. Please pray for him." He further stated that his elder brother too is admitted to the ICU, with the family currently going through a financial crisis to meet the medical expenditure. 

Upon learning dance master Siva Sankar's health condition, popular Bollywood actor Sonu Sood reached out to the family and gave assurance to take care of his medical expenses. "It's really sad to see what's happening with Siva Shankar master fighting for his life, his younger son is also fighting the same battle. It's my humble request for everyone to stand in solidarity and come forward to help the legend who has given so much to the industry. I'm doing my bit and everyone also should," Sonu said. 

Siva Sankar, who was bestowed with the Tamil Nadu State Film Award on four occasions for choreography, had become a household name in the state after serving as one of the judges on the popular dance reality show Challenge, which was hosted by Ohmkar. He has also starred in several television serials among which include Naga Bhairavi in Telugu and Jothi in Tamil on Sun TV. Outside of his work as a choreographer, Siva Sankar made a name for himself in films in supporting roles in films like 'Thala' Ajith Kumar's Varalaru, Santhanam's Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya, director Bala's Paradesi, Sundar. C's Aranmanai, Suriya's Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, including 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Sarkar to name a notable few.
