Mirchi Siva is paired up with Priya Anand for the second time in Sumo, which is produced by Vels Film International and directed by Hosimin of February 14 and Aayiram Vilakku fame. Mirchi Siva is first time venturing as the screenplay and dialogue writer for this movie, which is said to be based on the lives of Sumo wrestlers and first of its kind in Indian cinema. Sumo features VTV Ganesh in a pivotal role and Yogi Babu for the humor relief, aside from the lead actors Mirchi Siva, Priya Anand and the Japanese sumo wrestler, Yoshinori Tashiro. The team of Sumo, on this Independence Day has sent a press note stating that the movie will be releasing in November.

Sumo has been filmed at Japan for 35 days with a hefty budget in a grandeur manner, among all the challenges that the cast and crew had to face. Sumo is a family friendly flick, for which ace cinematographer Rajiv Menon has cranked the camera. The movie's technical team also includes Nivas K Prasanna as the music director and Praveel KL as the editor.
