One of the most successful film franchises in India, the Tamil version of Singam starring Suriya in the lead role under hit director Hari’s direction released in 2010 and went on to become a box office blockbuster. The film’s commercial triumph led to the hit duo reuniting again and went on to make two more films - Singam 2 (2013) and Si3 (2017). Simultaneously, the franchise also made inroads in Bollywood with Ajay Devgn reprising the role of Suriya for the Hindi version under the title Singham released in 2011 followed by Singham Returns in 2014 with the character making his presence felt in the 2018 film, Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role. Ajay Devgn will once again reprise his role from Singham in the upcoming highly anticipated Akshay Kumar starrer, Sooryavanshi, coming out in theatres next year.
With the Singam and Singham franchises in Tamil and Hindi turning out to be massive hits, we are now going to the film in Punjabi as well as actor Parmish Verma has stepped into the shoes of Suriya and Ajay Devgn in Singham hitting screens on August 9, 2019. Also starring Sonam Bajwa as the female lead and Kartar Cheema in a villainous role, Singham in Punjabi has been directed by Navaniat Singh.
