Silambarasan TR's highly-anticipated film Maanaadu is gearing up for a massive worldwide theatrical release on November 25, with the film's pre-release event held on Thursday in Chennai. Directed by Venkat Prabhu under producer Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions banner, the upcoming mass masala political entertainer also featured Kalyani Priyadarashan as the heroine, with the music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. With the film set to hit screens in the next few days, the much-awaited Maanaadu pre-release event saw the entire team participate, including Simbu, who gave an emotional speech before breaking down into tears.

STR started off his speech about his working experience in Maanaadu, while also expressing his gratitude to the entire film's team and crew. Simbu stated, "Venkat Prabhu has stood by me all this time. We were discussing doing a film together for a long time. Finally, he narrated a one-line to me about a character named Abdul Khaaliq, which sounded interesting to me and I instantly agreed to do it. The film is complex and tough for me to explain, but you will be happy once you watch it on the big screen. The entire team has worked hard to make this film, which we all went out of our way to get it done. It was a privilege for me to work with S. A. Chandrasekhar sir as I have wanted to do a film with him for a long time. Likewise, Y. Gee. Mahendran sir has given a memorable performance as he has made even his fingers act in a few scenes. SJ Suryah will become very busy after Maanaadu because he has delivered a thunderous performance. There were times when even we would all feel tired on the sets, but he would keep on going to get the scene made in a better way."

STR continues, "Yuvan Shankar Raja is my friend, brother and father in life and has been a big strength at all times as he is one person who will bear me and is the only one who understands me. I also want to share a few words about Premgi and used to tell him during the shooting not to overact. There are a few fight scenes that we all have gone to great lengths to shoot. I too took a few beatings during the shooting and sustained minor injuries. Kalyani Priyadarshan is the heroine and she has done a terrific job. Likewise, editor Praveen K L, for whom Maanaadu is his 100th film, is the most important man because he has edited the film in such a way that you all will be able to understand it since it is a complex story."

During his speech, STR breaks down in tears before being escorted out. He says, "Generally, I have spoken at a lot of places. I don't know what else to say now. I feel hurt. I have faced a lot of problems. They are making it really hard for me. I will manage my problems. You all please take care of me." Simbu is taken off stage before he is brought back to the dias to complete the Maanaadu pre-release formalities.
