Silambarasan TR has been on beast mode working non-stop over the past one year in multiple projects, with his family action drama film, Eeswaran, released earlier this year as a grand Pongal treat. Post the success of Eeswaran, STR announced a line of ventures among which include Maanaadu under Venkat Prabhu's direction hitting theatres this Diwali in November. Simbu, who is currently shooting for his Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu with Gautham Menon, and is set to join the sets of Pathu Thala alongside Gautham Karthik soon, had announced on Thursday that fans can expect a major announcement soon on Sunday ahead of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) match when the Indian Premier League resumes after it was postponed earlier this year due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In that light, reputed Tamil film production house Vels Film International dropped a major announcement on Friday informing fans about their next film with Simbu, which has been revealed to be tentatively titled as STR 48. Releasing a promo video, Vels Film International revealed that a major announcement will be made on Saturday, with Simbu's voiceover also being teased in the short promo, which has a sea of yellow and is the color of CSK in IPL. For a while now, there have been strong speculations stating STR will be acting in a film titled Corona Kumar and will reportedly be a sequel to 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi's 2013 blockbuster Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara. Check out the video below:

Last year, director Gokul, who is also known for films like Rowthiram, Kaashmora, Junga and Anbirkiniyaal, had announced during the lockdown that he is writing a new story, which has since been speculated to be the Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara sequel . A while back, there were also reports that Vijay Sethupathi would be making a cameo appearance in Corona Kumar by reprising his role as Sumaar Moonji Kumar from IDHABA. All eyes are set now on tomorrow's announcement in regard to STR 48 actually being Corona Kumar
