Silambarasan TR is riding high on the success of his latest film Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film opened to highly positive review from fans and critics alike as well as the general public. STR was seen playing a role unlike ever before in his 20 year career as an actor and received high praise for it. The film which hit the screens yesterday (September 15) also stars Siddhi Idnani, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav and Aangelina Abraham with the film's music composed by Isai Puyal A. R. Rahman.

To celebrate the success of the film, our channel Galatta Plus released a video recently featuring National Award winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan interviewing Simbu. When Rangan asked, "Which role would you say challenged you the most?", Simbu replied by saying, "In Silambattam that father role was very challenging because I was very young at that time so I did not know whether people will accept me as a father. So I had to put on some weight at that time for the role to convince the audience that".

He also added, "Thotti Jaya was also the same because at that time I was very young and I was so thin. To accept a thin guy as a big rowdy like Thotti Jaya who will kill anyone for money and to carry such a character is not a joke. Because of that I had to wear all that black dress, grow a beard, but still I looked thin only. So that was challenging".
