Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu completed its 50th-day run in theatres yesterday (November 9, 2022) and a grand celebration event was held at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai. Several notable names graced the occasion, including director Gautham Vasudev Menon, producer Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, and Udhayanidhi Stalin, who released the film across Tamil Nadu under his Red Giant Movies banner. Speaking at the VTK 50 days celebration event, Simbu said, "I was worried initially before the release of the film as it did not include too many commercial aspects. I played the role of Muthu and my fans showed their strong support for this film, which is quite different in cinema." He added, "During filming, we used to keep getting requests from fans for updates about the film. But, when you ask for updates like that, there are chances that we might end up making a wrong decision as a result of the pressure. I always look to make my fans happy with my films as they will be my first priority at all times. So, I request you all to give us some time."

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has turned out to be a phenomenal success and STR, Gautham Menon, and Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman have added yet another accolade to their shelves after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016). The film featured Siddhi Idnani as the female lead, who has since gone on to become a youth sensation, while Radhika Sarathukumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav, Angelina Abraham, Jaffer Sadiq among others appeared in pivotal roles. The film ended on a cliffhanger note and showed Silambarasan's transition as a gangster, with his character set to be elaborated in the sequel, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2.
