Pathu Thala is an anticipated film with Silambarasan TR in the lead role and is based on the Kannada film Mufti. The film is set for a massive theatrical release on March 30 and is directed by Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame Obeli N Krishna. Dhananjayan is a leading distributor-producer who has bank rolled many projects. He's also the founder of BOFTA, a Chennai based film institute. The producer has just revealed the first review of the film Pathu Thala through a Twitter post. Dhananjayan has said that "Pathu Thala is STR’s Rage and Powerful performance. He is on fire. Wow. He then went on to congratulate the director and producer of the film and stated that “the film is going to storm the box office from 30th March”. The statement by the well-known has heightened the anticipation of fans.

Pathu Thala has music composed by AR Rahman and is co-produced by Pen Studios. The film has Silambarasan TR taking up the role of AGR, a don in Kanyakumari. The film has Gautham Karthik and Gautham Vasudev Menon in important roles. Priya Bhavani Shankar, Anu Sithara, Teejay Arunasalam, Kalaiyarasan, Redin Kingsley, Sendrayan and others in supporting characters.
