Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu, which was scheduled to have a grand theatrical release for Diwali 2021 has now been postponed to a later date. The film was initially scheduled to release on November 4 for Diwali and it was progressing as per the plan. However, it has now come to everyone's notice that the film has opted out of the Diwali race. Maanaadu's producer Suresh Kamatchi shared the news about the postponement through a press release in which the reason for the change in release date was explained. Keeping the interests of theatre exhibitors and distributors in mind, the makers have decided to push the film's release to a later date.

Superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe is already announced as a grand Diwali release and the majority of the screens will obviously go to Annaatthe as it is a potential crowd puller. Vishal - Arya starrer Enemy is also scheduled to release for Diwali. Considering the current trade scenario due to the Covid - 19 times, it might not be feasible for the theatre exhibitors and distributors to accommodate three big-scale films during a festive time and hence, for the goodwill of the industry and trade, the makers of Maanaadu have opted for change of plans. The new release date of Maanaadu is November 25, three weeks after Diwali.

This announcement has created a huge buzz on social media. This will now give Maanaadu a wider release with more number of screens and it is expected to have a solo release. Maanaadu is a film that has excited the fans and film buffs ever since its first announcement and it is going to be exciting to see how the film fares at the box office. Maanaadu's postponement has now confirmed that there will only be two big releases for this year's Diwali - Annaatthe and Enemy. The post production works of Maanaadu are happening in full swing.
