Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu which released yesterday (November 25) after several hurdles, is off to a fantastic start. The film has got highly positive reviews from the critics and general audience and the positive word of mouth is all set to reflect in the box office numbers in the coming days. Since the film had a great pre-release buzz, the entire shows of the first day went full in almost all of the theatres across the state. Having said that, details regarding the film's box office collections on its first day has now been known. Maanaadu has collected Rs. 8 Crores + (approx.) at the Tamil Nadu box office and this is indeed a huge number, considering the fact that it was a non-festive weekday.

Had the early morning shows scheduled at 5 AM not been cancelled, the film would have registered bigger numbers on its first day. This data was confirmed by Karthik Ravivarma, who was involved in the distribution works of Maanaadu. From what we see, it looks like Maanaadu will definitely be one of the biggest hits in Silambarasan TR's career. Provided that there are no floods due to rain, Maanaadu is a film that has the potential to enter the 100 crore club and let us keep our fingers crossed until then. With Maanaadu, director Venkat Prabhu has hit the ball out of the park and he will very soon become one of the most sought after filmmakers.

Maanaadu has also proven to be a solid comeback for Silambarasan TR whose last few films failed to connect well with the masses. Produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions, Maanaadu has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography handled by Richard M Nathan. This time-loop based political drama has SJ Suryah playing the antagonist and his performance is being raved by one and all. Kalyani Priyadarshan, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Y Gee Mahendran, SA Chandrasekhar, Manoj Bharathiraja, are some of the other prominent names in the star cast.
