Actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj's Raavana Kottam is slated to open in cinemas on Friday, May 12, and ticket bookings are already underway across theatres in Tamil Nadu. Directed by Vikram Sugumaran of Madha Yaanai Koottam fame and produced under the Kannan Ravi Group banner, the upcoming rural entertainer has met with some controversy after a few people claimed that the film must be banned as it is inciting caste riots in the southern districts. Addressing the controversy surrounding Raavana Kottam's release, the makers on Thursday issued a statement clarifying that the film's screenplay has been crafted out of love for the soil and humanism.
In their statement, the makers of Raavana Kottam appealed that the film is a fictional story and has not been made with the intention of hurting anybody on the basis of religion, race, and language. They further stated that the film was shown to the press during an early screening, who too have confirmed the same while adding that the core crux of the story, which talks about unity and harmony, has been embraced by the people who have watched it. The makers also said that Raavana Kottam doesn't degrade or show any particular community in a bad light. They further requested the people to refrain from demanding a ban on the film or seeking to stop the screenings based on any of the rumors that are circulating. The film also stars 'Kayal' Anandhi as the female lead, while Prabhu, Ilavarasu, among others, will be seen in key roles, with music composed by Justin Prabhakaran.
