Produced by Kamal Haasan and R. Vikram has taken a sensational opening in theatres everywhere and marks Kamal Haasan's return to the big screen after Vishwaroopam II in 2018. Fans had been wanting to witness the superstar for a long time and the actor has come out on top once again, with Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, and Suriya as well leaving fans speechless with their power-packed performances. Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is an ardent fan of Kamal Haasan, has revived the titular character from the 1986 film Vikram, and put him in the present time in the spin-off to the original, while also setting up a big connection to his second directorial Kaithi released in 2019.
Apart from Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil and Suriya, Vikram includes an ensemble cast featuring the likes of Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Chemban Vinod Jose, Santhana Bharathi, Gayathrie Shankar, Swathishta Krishnan, Shivani Narayanan, Myna Nandhini, Maheswari, while Karthi makes a voice-only appearance, followed by Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, KPY Dheena, and Baby Monica also seen in cameos from Kaithi.
