Records are being shattered left and right and new benchmarks have been created by Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, which has now become "the only Hindi film to breach Rs. 100 crores worldwide gross box-office collection (GBOC) barrier on two consecutive days," blockbuster production banner Yash Raj Films (YRF) has announced. Released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages, the action thriller has collected Rs. 219.6 crores in worldwide gross in two days and is continuing its box office rampage after registering the biggest opening day record in the history of Hindi cinema with an astounding global day 1 gross of 106 crores. Pathaan has collected Rs. 113.60 crores on day 2 and is also now the first Hindi film to close in at Rs. 70 crores on a single day on Republic Day (Rs. 68 crores) across India, leading film trade analyst Taran Adarsh has reported. The film had come out on a non-holiday and rocketed past the opening of some other big notable nationwide box office hits like K. G. F: Chapter 2 (2022) starring Yash, followed by War (2019) featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, and the Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan-starrer Thugs of Hindostan (2018).

Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra, Pathaan has Shah Rukh Khan playing the role of a RAW field agent and sharing screen space with Deepika Padukone, who is cast as a former ISI agent, while John Abraham is the antagonist as the leader of "Outfit X". Playing on more than 8,000 screens (5,500 in India + 2,500 overseas) worldwide, the film is set in the YRF Spy Universe, which previously featured films like Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and War (2019), and also includes a special cameo appearance by Salman Khan reprising his role as Tiger once again.
