Shah Rukh Khan is back and with a big bang as his comeback, Pathaan, has registered the biggest opening day record in the history of Hindi cinema with a staggering worldwide day 1 gross of 106 crores. The action thriller, which sees the 'Bollywood Baadshah' returning to the big screen after a 4-year hiatus when he was last seen in Zero (2018), has now smashed all existing records for the opening day collections in Hindi cinema history. Pathaan has been released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages, and the news of the worldwide opening day gross has been announced by the film's production banner Yash Raj Films. Released on a non-holiday, Pathaan, has now gone past the opening of other big nationwide box office hits like Yash's K. G. F: Chapter 2 (2022), Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's War (2019), and Thugs of Hindostan (2018) starring Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, according to leading film trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The film, which sees Shah Rukh Khan in an out-and-out action avatar after quite a long time, alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has also witnessed an increase in the number of shows in cinemas and is currently playing in more than 8,000 screens (5,500 in India + 2,500 overseas) worldwide. It is to be noted that there were also special midnight shows for Pathaan across India due to a phenomenal demand for tickets, which has also favored the film to set this historic record.
