In shocking news, the popular Tamil television serial Sevvanthi director O. N. Rathnam's wife Priya was found dead at their residence in Chennai on Wednesday, May 24. Details surrounding the unfortunate incident are awaited, but reports suggest, she allegedly committed suicide, with an investigation currently underway. Priya's body has then been shifted to a hospital in Chennai. Hailing from the same village in Pollachi, Rathnam and Priya fell in love and tied the knot despite their parents expressing their displeasure. The couple were happily married for nearly 10 years and were blessed with two sons.
As per early reports, O. N. Rathnam and Priya's children were sent to their grandparents' house in Pollachi due to a few issues between them, while they were staying at their house in Chennai. Reports further state, an argument ensued between the couple a day before the tragic incident had taken place. It is being stated that Priya allegedly resorted to ending her life after Rathnam had gone to the bus stand to receive their children who were returning from their grandparents' house in Pollachi to Chennai.
O. N. Rathnam is best known in the television industry for directing leading actresses Revathy and Raadhika Sarathkumar in a number of episodes on their serials Azhagu and Vani Rani. He also earned a name for himself by directing the serial Pandavar Illam, which telecast more than 1000 episodes on the Sun TV network. Rathnam has been directing the ongoing Sun TV show, Sevvanthi, since it began airing in 2022.
