Seergali Sivachidambaram felicitated

Padmashree Seergali Sivachidambaram was felicitated on the 27th anniversary of Natyaacharya Music and Dance school. Former Vice-Chancellor Auvvai Natarasan, Dr. Tara Natarasan, Hindi Professor P.K. Balasubramaniam and K. Chandrasekaran, Chancellor of Govt. Arts College, were the guests of honour.

The function began with a welcome speech by S. Balachandra Raju, who also gave the vote of thanks in the end. After the welcome speech, students of Natyaacharya Music and Dance school presented a cultural programme. Following this, the award presentation took place. Seergali Sivachidambaram was felicitated for his service in the field of music. The guests of honour lauded his talent and his efforts in taking Carnatic music to great heights and to films. Auvvai Natarasan reminisced about a function where Seergali Sivachidambaram performed on stage as a child and got accolades from M.G.R. After this, P.K. Balasubramaniam was felicitated for his service as a Hindi teacher. He has also won Madhya Pradesh Government’s recognition for his service.

In this function, a CD containing 225 ragas (which explains the nuances of music) was released. These ragas were also featured in a programme called 'Rudraveenai' aired on Sun TV.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks by S. Balachandra Raju.
