Leading Tamil actor Karthi has been on a roll of late with two back-to-back blockbusters in the form of Viruman and Ponniyin Selvan: 1 and he will be looking to make it a hat-trick with Sardar releasing worldwide as a grand Diwali treat on October 21. Billed to be an action-spy thriller, the upcoming film is the third directorial of Irumbi Thirai and Hero fame P. S. Mithran and has been produced by S. Lakshman Kumar's Prince Pictures banner, with extensive promotions already underway ahead of its release in less than a week. That being said, the highly-anticipated Sardar trailer has now been released and shows Karthi playing dual roles as a cop and an elderly man, with the story said to be spanning from the 1970s to the present times showing him in action mode amidst explosive action. 

The Sardar trailer starts off showing Karthi as a policeman named Vijay Prakash, who likes being in the spotlight, and gets the job done of nabbing the bad guys, while also shining high in the eyes of the media. The cop character is set in contemporary times and we see Raashii Khanna playing the female lead, with Laila, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu, Yugi Sethu, playing supporting characters. The Sardar trailer then shifts to the past in the 1970s when another version of Karthi is depicted as an intelligence spy, with Karnan heroine Rajisha Vijayan playing his wife and Bollywood actor Chunky Pandey revealed to be the antagonist. The trailer includes several high moments and explosive action assuring fans that the film will be a thorough commercial entertainer. 

Sardar is billed to be one of the biggest films releasing this year and is being presented by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies in Tamil Nadu. The film includes music by G. V. Prakash Kumar and the composer had roped in Karthi to sing the 'Yaerumayileri' track penned by lyricist Yugabharathi, which has received a positive response. Sardar is carrying huge expectations as it features Karthi donning the khakhi once again after the 2017 blockbuster Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru and fans will be looking to see him deliver yet another box office money-spinner and wrap 2022 with a hat-trick after his rural entertainer Viruman and Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: 1, which saw him portray Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyadevan.
