Leading South Indian actress Samantha Akkineni's last major role in Tamil cinema was filmmaker Thiagaraja Kumararaja's Super Deluxe in 2019. She then appeared on the big screen in Jaanu, the Telugu remake of the smash hit Tamil film 96, following which she made her digital debut on The Family Man season 2 this year, which fetched her positive feedback from fans and critics for her power-packed performance. Samantha, who is currently working on the upcoming Tamil film Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal under Vignesh Shivan's direction, has now been announced to be a part of Dream Warrior Pictures' next, which will be directed by newcomer Shantharuban Gnanasekaran. 

Dream Warrior Pictures' 30th production venture, it is incidentally the reputed banner's first Tamil production of 2021, and are known for their blockbusters like Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, Aruvi, Kaithi and most recently Sulthan. Debutant Shantharuban Gnanasekaran is known for his short film, Grey, which was released online last year and received a huge response from fans. The Samantha-Dream Warrior Pictures film will be made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu considering the actress has garnered a huge fan following across South India, especially in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana as she has appeared in several blockbusters like Janatha Garage, Rangasthalam, U Turn, including Jaanu. As of now, there are no details on the Tamil-Telugu bilingual apart from Samantha's casting and the rest of the cast and crew is expected to be announced soon. 

As for Samantha's current projects in development, her Tamil film, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, is a rom-com being produced by Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios and will see the actress along side 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, with music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander. Samantha also wrapped up filming for her next Telugu film, Shaakuntalam, a mythological drama film, with post-production works currently underway.
