Sadhanayalar award for Kalaignar

'Agila Ulaga Thirai Sadhanayalar' award will be conferred  on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on the inaugural day of the All India Film Workers' Conference on October 9. The leading lights of the film fraternity will jointly present the award to Kalaignar.

V.C. Guhanathan, president, Film Federation Employees' of  Southern India, said it will be an honour for the award to have the name of the legend inscribed on it.

For the statistically inclined, Kalaignar, who started writing at age 17, penned the dialogues in thespian Sivaji Ganesan's debut venture Parasakthi. Again for the record, 'Sirayil Pootha Chinna Malar' was the novel Kalaignar wrote when confined to jail. One could see the connection in the title.
