Leading Tamil actor Madhavan has announced that his directorial debut, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, will be arriving in theatres on July 1. The pan-Indian film coming out in Tamil, English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam languages is the biopic of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist and Aerospace Engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and was last announced to hit screens on April 1 this year. On Monday, Madhavan took to social media to inform fans and shared a short video glimpse revealing the Rocketry release date as theatres in Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country have once again begun operating at a hundred percent occupancy after the restrictions were lifted by the respective state governments that were enforced due to the pandemic. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is based on the life story of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was falsely accused of espionage, which altered the course of his life. The upcoming film's trailer released last year had raised the curiosity among fans and showed Madhavan undergoing a radical transformation in his appearance for his role as Nambi, which won him praise from fans and many in the industry. Apart from acting and directing Rocketry, Madhavan has also produced the film under his Tricolour Films in association with Varghese Moolan Pictures banner, while also penning the screenplay. 

Madhavan and Simran are sharing screen space in Rocketry after they were seen in legendary director K. Balachander's Paarthale Paravasam and ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Kannathil Muthamittal and fans are excited to witness the duo in action once again. The visuals from the film so far have shown their chemistry to be on point as they will be seen playing a married couple, with the supporting cast featuring names like Ravi Raghavendra, Meesha Ghoshal, Karthik Kumar, Gulshan Grover, Dinesh Prabhakar, Mohan Raman, Ron Donachle among others.

Apart from Suriya and Simran being the major highlights in the star cast, Rocketry also has Suriya playing an interesting cameo for the Tamil version, while Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be making an appearance in Hindi. Rocketry has music composed by Vikram Vedha and Kaithi sensation Sam CS, while Sirsha Roy and Bijith Bala have taken care of the cinematography and editing, respectively.
