The big news is finally out. The female lead of Vijay's next film, Thalapathy 66, is officially announced and the much-awaited update has set the fans in excitement. The young and happening sensation Rashmika Mandanna has been signed to play the leading lady of Thalapathy 66, marking her first outing with Vijay. Rashmika emerged as a star in a quick span and bagging a mega biggie like Thalapathy 66 is indeed a huge milestone in the young actor's career. Rashmika is celebrating her birthday today (April 5) and marking the special occasion, the official announcement of her addition to the cast of Thalapathy 66 was made.

It is going to be refreshing to see Vijay and Rashmika share screen space for the very first time and the fans are in for some exciting treat. Rashmika made her debut in Tamil cinema with Karthi's Sulthan and Thalapathy 66 will be her second outing in Kollywood. Thalapathy 66 is directed by Vamshi Paidipally of Thozha and Maharshi fame and is produced by Dil Raju under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. The makers made the official announcement through a tweet that read, "Wishing the talented and gorgeous @iamRashmika a very Happy Birthday ! The rest of the cast and crew of Thalapathy 66 are yet to be known and further updates are expected to flow in the coming days. It is also being reported that the film will be officially launched with a formal pooja tomorrow (April 6) in Chennai. Meanwhile, Vijay fans are eagerly looking forward to the grand theatrical release of Beast which is set to hit the screens on April 13. Beast is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and features Pooja Hegde as the female lead, with music by Anirudh Ravichander. Beast is produced by Sun Pictures and has acclaimed filmmaker Selvaraghavan in a pivotal role.
