Ayan Mukerji's magnum opus Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, has been in the making since 2018 with talks of the movie-going on longer than that. But now it seems that the shooting for the first instalment of this three-part series has finally come to an end. The last shoot schedule for the movie was concluded after a three-day shoot in Varanasi and the team has evidently wrapped up the shoot yesterday, March 28. A delighted Ayan revealed that the film's shoot has finally come to an end after five long years.

He took to his social media account on Twitter sharing an image post wrap up of the film along with a caption that read, "And finally… It’s a Wrap! 5 years since we took our first shot on Brahmāstra, and we’ve finally filmed our last one! Absolutely incredible, challenging, once-in-a-lifetime journey!!! Some hand of destiny that we finished the shoot of ‘Part One: Shiva’ in Varanasi - a city infused with the spirit of Shiv Bhagwan, and that too at the most sacred Kashi Vishwanath Mandir, allowing us to finish in an atmosphere of purity, joy and blessings. Exciting days ahead, last lap ahead! 09.09.2022 - Here we come!"

The film is set to be a trilogy and promises to bring a never-before-seen spectacle to the big screen. The film is written and directed by Ayan Mukerji with Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus and Starlight Pictures as its producers. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 9 in five languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada with a stellar ensemble cast starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni. This will be Ayan Mukherji's third collaboration with friend Ranbir Kapoor following the success of Wake up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. This is, however, Alia Bhat’s first collaboration with the young director. The film marks Ayan Mukerji's return to direction after nine years.
