In the most unexpected turn of events, the grand theatrical release of SS Rajamouli's highly anticipated mega biggie, RRR has been postponed and this news has turned out to be a big disappointment for the fans. The team of RRR were extensively involved in the grand promotional activities and they travelled to various states to promote the film and this unexpected development will come as a big blow for them. The pre-release buzz was great and the film had the potential to take the box office by storm, but due to the recent increase in Covid-19 and its variant Omicron cases in the country, this decision has been taken.

Several states in the country have closed down the theatres and states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are operating with 50% occupancy due to the surge in the Covid cases. The official statement from the makers of RRR read, "Inspite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promised to bring back The Glory of Indian cinema and at the right time, WE WILL". RRR which was scheduled to hit the screens on January 7 has now been postponed indefinitely and the makers will take a call on the new release date after getting a clear picture of the pandemic.

The postponement of RRR will now give more space and screens for Ajith Kumar's Valimai and Prabhas' Radhe Shyam which are releasing on January 13 and 14 respectively. RRR features Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, alongside Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and others. Produced by DVV Entertainment on a grand scale, this epic entertainer has music composed by MM Keeravani. For now, check out the official statement on the postponement of Rajamouli's RRR release here:
