Pugaippadam music review

Pugaippadam has Amjad, Priya Anand and Yamini in lead roles.Produced by N.C. Manikandan under the banner of Mayabazaar Cinemas, Pugaippadam (also spelt as Pugaipadam) is an amazing film, based on a true story of the college days of eight friends. Gangai Amaran, who makes a comeback with this film, has proved that he is always young at heart by scoring vivacious and youthful numbers. The music is marketed by Think Music.

When one listens to the prelude humming of the ‘Idhu Kanavo’, one feels instantly transported to the80s, when melody ruled the roost. The combination SPB and Chithra’s voices has that effect. ‘Udaikanum’ is a duet by Vijay Yesudas and Hari Charan. It is a well-coordinated and well-toned presentation. Vijay Yesudas’ ‘Vaan Nila’ allocates more importance to the lyrics and the emotions connected to it. ‘Oru Kudaiyel’ by Venkat Prabhu and Prashanthini is an exotically-tuned piece. ‘Pennellamea’ by Balaji and Krish is a jolly and sprightly number. ‘Padapadavena’ is a chorus. The spirit in the tune and the matching delivery adds to its appeal.

In addition to penning the lyrics, Gangai Amaren is back to the music composing arena and he has done a marvellous job for Pugaippadam.
