Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, who announced the birth of their first child, a baby girl, through surrogacy, have finally zeroed in on a name, according to the birth certificate that has been obtained by TMZ. The official documents have revealed that the couple's baby's name is Malti Marie Chopra Jonas and was born on January 15 just after 8 p.m. at a hospital in San Diego. As of now, there has not been an official statement from either PeeCee or Nick regarding the name of their baby daughter, with the meaning behind the name Malti revealed to be a 'small fragrant flower or moonlight' and is of Sanskrit origin. 

On January 22, Priyanka and Nick surprised everyone when they announced that they welcomed a baby via surrogacy. The couple also requested privacy and chose to keep mum over the name or sex of their child. Their statement read, "We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much." 

As fans waited for Priyanka and Nick to speak again, the Hollywood actress 'mother, Madhu Chopra during her appearance at an event in Mumbai said that the new parents had not yet finalized a name for their baby. When questioned by the paparazzi about becoming a grandmother for the first time, she said, "Nani banne ki toh bahut bahut khushi hui mujhe. I am only smiling all the time. I'm very happy." Upon being queried about Priyanka and Nick's baby's name, Madhu said that the couple was waiting for a word from the priest and thus hinted that they were opting to choose one that would have a connection to the Hindu tradition.
