Actor Ajith Kumar's Valimai directed by H. Vinoth is gearing up for a grand Pongal 2022 theatrical release and is currently in its post-production stages. Produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP in association with Zee Studios, the upcoming action thriller had an electrifying glimpse video released as a special treat for fans a few days back, with expectations for the film skyrocketing since then. That said, actor Prasanna, who in early 2020 revealed that he had been approached for a role in Valimai took to social media to express his disappointment for letting an opportunity as big a role in an Ajith film slip away. Prasanna tweeted, "Extremely delighted to know that my dear #Thala trusted in me. Though it was disappointing when #Valimai opportunity slipped away, I am confident great things are yet to come."

Last year, Prasanna released a statement about getting a chance to star alongside 'Thala' Ajith in Valimai and thanked fans for supporting him to take up the role. At the time, he said, "I, from the bottom of my heart, thank each and everyone of you, who with so much love wished and wanted me to be part 'Vaiimai'. I was equally thrilled that the talks were on and was hoping to make the biggest announcement in my career ever. But unfortunately, this wonderful opportunity to share screen with our 'Thala' isn't happening this time. Inspite of the deep disappointment I am feeling all the more stronger with all your love. There is always a next time and am sure I will be playing that dream part opposite "Thala" sooner. Love you all so much. Keep sending me your love. That's all I've got."

Prasanna, who made his debut in Five Star (2002), has since given impressive performances in films like Azhagiya Theeye, Kanda Naal Mudhal, Anjathe, Achchamundu! Achchamundu!, Naanayam, Kalyana Samayal Saadham, Pa Paandi, Thupparivaalan and most recently Mafia in 2019, and will next be seen reuniting with Vishal in Thupparivaalan 2. As for Valimai, the film is the second consecutive collaboration for Ajith with director H. Vinoth, producer Boney Kapoor and composer Yuvan Shankar Raja after they tasted blockbuster success with Nerkonda Paarvai two years back.
