Leading actor Prabhas' Adipurush has been announced for a worldwide theatrical release on January 12, 2023, in 3D. Filmmaker Om Raut made the announcement on Tuesday along with a new poster on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Announced to be releasing in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, Adipurush will reportedly see Prabhas essay the role of Lord Ram, while actress Kriti Sanon has been cast as Sita. The mythological film is based on the epic Ramayana and has Saif Ali Khan portraying Raavan's role and Sunny Singh is cast as Lakshman. Below is the new Adipurush release date announcement:

Adipurush has created massive expectations among fans ever since it was announced, with fans looking forward to witnessing Prabhas in his next grand avatar on the big screen. Speaking about the Baahubali actor's casting in the upcoming film, director Om Raut earlier told news agency PTI, "I think Prabhas is just perfect. His entire persona, the calmness that he has. His eyes are so deep, his stance, the way he carries himself, his entire personality. I could see Adipurush in him and if it wasn’t him, I wouldn’t have made the film." Likewise, Om Raut introduced Saif Ali Khan as part of the film in an Instagram post and wrote, "7000 years ago existed the world's most intelligent demon! #Adipurush #SaifAliKhan."

Adipurush was previously scheduled to open in theatres this August, but was later pushed back to help facilitate the release of Aamir Khan's highly-anticipated Laal Singh Chaddha. Aamir Khan Productions had released a statement that read as follows: "This is to announce that our film, Laal Singh Chaddha, will not be releasing on 14th April as planned. This is because we are unable to complete the film in time. The film will now be releasing on 11 Aug 2022 in theatres worldwide. We would like to thank Mr Bhushan Kumar, T Series and Om Raut and the entire team of Adipurush from the bottom of our hearts."
