Star director Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan-1 got off to a massive start and became a sensational hit at the box office almost instantly. With its more than successful run, the film is now preparing itself to take over the smaller screens as well by making its OTT debut. 

Word around the block is that, this monstrous masterpiece is all set to be available for streaming from either the second week of November (November 11) or on the third week of November (November 18). No information regarding this is confirmed, rather its all a speculation. This might happen as the film regains numbers at the box office despite new Diwali releases. However, we are still waiting for the makers of the film for an official announcement before we can start celebrating. It’s worth mentioning that the OTT rights of Ponniyin Selvan have been sold as a package for Rs 125 crores.

Ponniyin Selvan: I is an epic historical action drama film helmed by Mani Ratnam who also bankrolled it along with Subaskaran Allirajah under the banners of Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The film serves as the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name and features an ensemble cast comprising of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R. Parthiban. 

The music was composed by A. R. Rahman, with cinematography by Ravi Varman, editing by A. Sreekar Prasad, and production design by Thota Tharani. The movie revolves around the Chola empire and is mostly about Ponniyin Selvan, also known as Raja Raja Chozhan or Arunmozhi Varman.
