All sights are set on the much-awaited Ponniyin Selvan: 2 audio and trailer launch ceremony to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on March 29. Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 28, the upcoming epic historical action adventure film directed by Mani Ratnam is the sequel to the 2022 box office blockbuster, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, and has Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman coming out with yet another round of memorable tunes and powerful background scores. With the theatrical release date set and the audio launch only three days away, Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies on Sunday released a new promo for the Ponniyin Selvan: 2 trailer, which focuses on Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyadevan and a couple of new intense action-packed moments.

The PS: 2 promo starts off with Karthi chasing an individual in the middle of the streets of a busy marketplace after which we see him going up against a couple of warriors with swords in the middle of a forest. The action scenes are once again a testimony to the big theatre moments in the filmm to be enjoyed in cinemas by fans after the first installment released last year included several high-octane moments for Karthi and the other two leads - 'Chiyaan' Vikram as Aditha Karikalan and Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman aka. Ponniyin Selvan.
The expectations for Ponniyin Selvan: 2 are massive, especially after the first film ended on a cliffhanger note, with Vanthiyadevan and Arunmozhi Varman going down in a shipwreck, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Oomai Arasi (Mandakini) jumping into the ocean to save them. Based on iconic Tamil writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's Ponniyin Selvan novel, the film also has several notable names from the PS: 1 returning to their roles among whom include Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, R. Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Lal, Rahman, Kishore, Ashwin Kakumanu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Jayachitra, Vidya Subramanian, Mohan Raman, and Riyaz Khan.
