The much-awaited announcement of the venue for the Ponniyin Selvan: 2 music and trailer launch will be held at 6 p.m. at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, on March 29. Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies released a special announcement video on Sunday for the upcoming epic historical action adventure film's audio and trailer launch ceremony, while also giving viewers a glimpse at Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman from the recording sessions with singers Shakthisree Gopalan, Shweta Mohan, and Chinmayi. The latest PS: 2 announcement has also revealed that the film's album will include a total of seven songs and we can expect A. R. Rahman to have come up with magic once again for the sequel to the 2022 box office blockbuster, Ponniyin Selvan: 1.

A. R. Rahman's work in the songs and the background score in PS: 1 earned him rave reviews and expectations are massive for what he cooked up next in Ponniyin Selvan: 2, which is scheduled to be launched in a grand manner in theeatres on April 28. Earlier, on Saturday evening, the Oscar award-winning composer posted a video from the re-recording sessions at Abbey Road Studios in London where he is seen working on the background score for the sequel, with ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam also seen joining along. The Ponniyin Selvan sequel will conclude Mani Ratnam's retelling of celebrated writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's prolific novel of the same title, which has been a highly-revered book for the Tamil people for decades.
The buzz for PS: 2 is massive and promotions have already kicked off, with the makers releasing a few promos and the 'Aga Naga' song, which has since turned out to be a chart-topping hit. The upcoming film will see the star cast from the first installment reprising their roles and leading the path once again are 'Chiyaan' Vikram as Aditha Karikalan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyadevan, Trisha as Kundavai, and Aishwarya Rai in dual roles as Nandini and Mandakini (Oomai Arasi). Ponniyin Selvan: 2 also marks the return of the ensemble supporting cast featuring the likes of Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, R. Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Lal, Rahman, Kishore, Ashwin Kakumanu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Jayachitra, Vidya Subramanian, Mohan Raman, and Riyaz Khan.
