Leading South Indian actress Parvathy Thiruvothu filed a complaint after a Kerala man, aged 34 to 35 years, had been stalking her by visiting her houses in Kochi and Kozhikode. The individual identified as one Harshan hailing from Kollam was arrested on Monday by the Maradu police in Ernakulam district under section 354 D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on the actress' complaint. Parvathy alleged in her complaint that the accused visited her home twice and carried food parcels with him. On the first occasion, the actress’ family had informed him that they did not appreciate the visits. However, he came back again and got into trouble with her house security. The individual had apparently also been causing distress to Parvathy over the last few years through phone messages. It is reported that he visited her Ernakulam flat and family residence in Kozhikode after which she registered a police complaint.

This isn't the first time Parvathy has encountered such a problem as she had two years back filed a police complaint when another stalker had claimed himself to be a lawyer and filmmaker. Introducing himself as Kishore, the man had reached out to the actress' brother and father stating that he is trying to rescue her. He informed Parvathy's family that she had links with the mafia prompting them to not respond to his messages. However, he later appeared in person at their Kozhikode house. Soon after, a case was lodged against the man under section 354D of the IPC and under section 1200 of the Kerala Police Act (causing nuisance and violence of public order). Over the years, Parvathy has been outspoken about women’s safety and the stress faced as a result of stalking and how it is a crime that is not being taken seriously.

Best known among Tamil cinema fans for starring opposite Dhanush in Maryan, Parvathy was a major highlight in the romantic action survival film, with her power-packed performance earning her plaudits from fans and critics. A leading name in Malayalam cinema, she has played the female lead in acclaimed films like Bangalore Days, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Charlie, Take Off, Koode, Uyare, Virus, and Aarkkariyam to name a notable few. Parvathy also made heads turn with an impressive performance in her Bollywood debut Qarib Qarib Singlle in 2017 opposite late actor Irrfan Khan, while also starring in Tamil films like Poo (Tamil cinema debut), Bangalore Naatkal, Kamal Haasan's Uttama Villain, and most recently in the anthology Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum
