In a shocking turn of events, Tamil director Mani Nagaraj passed away on the morning hours of Thursday, August 25, and his untimely demise has sent shock waves in the Tamil film industry. It has been informed that the filmmaker suffered a cardiac arrest this morning after which the Doctors declared him dead. Of late, we have been hearing a lot about people in the middle age dying due to heart attacks and cardiac arrests and Mani Nagaraj's demise is one such tragic occasion. For the unversed, Mani Nagaraj is the director of the GV Prakash starrer Pencil which released in 2016. The music composer turned actor took to his official Twitter page to share his heartfelt condolences, expressing his shock over the demise. GV Prakash tweeted, "Hard to believe My beloved friend director Mani Nagaraj is no more. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family and Friends. Rest in Peace my friend". Mani Nagaraj's mortal remains has been kept at his residence in Valasaravakkam for his near and dear ones to pay their final respects. Details regarding the final rites are yet to be known.

Mani Nagaraj made his debut with Pencil that had GV Prakash and Sri Divya in the lead roles. He has completed the shooting of his second film, Vasuvin Garbinigal, and the film is currently in the post production stages. Vasuvin Garbinigal features Anikha Surendran of Viswasam fame, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Seetha, and Gobinath playing the lead roles. The film is produced by Xavier Britto, the producer of Thalapathy Vijay's Master. Xavier has produced Vasuvin Garbinigal under the banner of Esthell Entertainment.
