New Year Specials: Six best actors of 2010

Galatta exclusively presents the six best actors of 2010 (in alphabetical order) based on their performance and their films' box office collection!

Arya - 2010 was a dream run for Arya with three releases: Madarasapattinam, Boss Engira Baskaran and Chikku Bukku. Interesting, all the three films have been declared hits. If Madarasapattinam explored his intense acting skills, Boss Engira Baskaran showed his humorous side and Chikku Bukku concentrated on the style factor. He is definitely one of the most successful stars in Kollywood today.

Kamal Haasan - Kamal Haasan's Manmadhan Ambu created records even before its release. After the thrilling Unnaipol Oruvan, the legendary actor is back on screen with Manmadhan Ambu (Cupid's arrow). This time, Kamal is back with one of his favourite directors K.S. Ravikumar.

Karthi - Karthi had a great 2010 with all his three releases (Aayirathil Oruvan, Paiyya and Naan Mahan Alla) going on to become hits and making him a hot and happening star. Now, the actor is looking forward to 2011 even as his Siruthai gets ready for a Pongal release.

Rajinikanth - He is one actor who can rule the box office always! He had neither any filmi background nor an influential family to boost his career! But he rewrote every record in Tamil Cinema and today, he is the most influential man in India; no wonder that his latest release Enthiran, directed by Shankar and produced by Sun Pictures, created history nationwide. It is said that the film grossed Rs. 5 crores in its opening day in Tamil Nadu.

Suriya - And here come the big 'singam' of the box office. With tworeleases (Singam and Rattha Charitiram), Suriya has created magic at the box office in 2010.  His Singam, directed by Hari, is one of the highest grossers of 2010. Apart from all that,  2010 is a special year for Suriya, as he made his Bollywood debut with RGV's Rakht Charitra 2. After seeing the film, the whole of Bollywood has appreciated the actor for his intense performance. Suriya has definitely taken the front seat in the sequel to create an ambiance of implosive violence through his expressive eyes.

Vikram: The Ram and Raavan of Indian cinema! Vikram created history with Mani Ratnam's Raavanan (Raavan in Hindi) this year.  He plays the role of a cop Dev Pratap Sharma (Ram) in the Hindi version and in Raavanan (Tamil version), he is Veera, a tribal head who is undisputed, unlawful and untamed. Interestingly, Vikram has dubbed his own lines for the Hindi version also. The film has been screened at many international film festivals, including Cannes, Venice and Pusan Film Festivals.
