Actor Aari made a sensational debut as a hero through the 2014 movie Nedunchalai and the movie turned out to become a massive hit. The movie's villain was Prashant Narayanan, who also made his debut in Tamil cinema with this movie. 50-year-old Prashant is an acclaimed actor who has a large body of work in Bollywood as well as a couple of movies in Malayalam and Tamil. We have now received reports that the actor and his wife Shona have been arrested in a case pertaining to cheating.

Based on a complaint given by Thomas Panicker, the Kerala Police have arrested Prashant and Shona in Mumbai and brought them down to Kerala on a transit warrant. The Thalassery Additional Judicial Magistrate Court has granted judicial remand for the couple till September 20. It is said that Prashant and Thomas Panicker became close after the acter played a part in a Malayalam movie financed by the latter. Reports state that after getting close, Prashant had allegedly gotten Thomas to invest an amount of Rs. 1.20 Crores in a company said to have been owned by Shona's father in Mumbai, following which Thomas would be made a Director of the concern.

However, after investing the amount, Thomas did not get any of the returns and is said to have realised that he had been cheated and registered a complaint with the Kerala Police. An 8-member team lead by Inspector A Prathap travelled to Mumbai, kept Prashant under surveillance for 3 days and finally arrested him. Meanwhile, Prashant has a number of movies lined up for release, including another Tamil movie - Naan Thaan Siva, directed by R Panneerselvam and produced by Lingusamy's Thirupathi Brothers.
