Nayanthara - Vignesh Shivan became parents to twin boys recently and the news took one and all by pleasant surprise. The couple became parents through surrogacy and the news went viral all over social media. However, an investigation was officially initiated by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu Government. As per the Indian guidelines, a couple can use a surrogate mother only 5 years after their marriage and in Wikki - Nayan's case, they had just gotten married in June 2022. Since it was just 4 months since their wedding, the usage of a surrogate mother came under the scanner.

The committee investigated Vignesh Shivan, Nayanthara, the surrogate mother, the hospital doctors who treated the mother, and everyone else who were associated in the process. Following several days of investigation and enquiry, the Department of Health and Family Welfare have officially given their final verdict on the case. In an official press statement released by the committee, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have been given clean chit and it has been confirmed that the couple has not violated any rules with regards to surrogacy.

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have registered their marriage on March 11, 2016, and the documents for the same have also been cross checked and confirmed by the Committee. Since their wedding has been dated in 2016, they are legally allowed to use a surrogate mother. Though they formally got married in the presence of their family and friends on June 9, 2022, they have already done registered marriage on March 11, 2016, as per the legal records. With this confirmation, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have been cleared of false claims and hate comments from a section of the people.

However, a notice has been issued to the hospital that treated the surrogate mother for not maintaining the medical records as per the guidelines. This development will surely come in as a big sigh of relief for Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan.
