Leading South Indian actress Nayanthara's next big film is Connect directed by Ashwin Saravanan of Maya and Game Over fame. The upcoming film produced by Vignesh Shivan under the Rowdy Pictures banner is an intense horror thriller and is set to open in cinemas worldwide on December 22 ahead of the Christmas holidays. Set in the first lockdown period in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, the much-awaited Connect official trailer has now been released and gives us a glimpse of the several spine-chilling moments awaiting fans in theatres.

The Connect trailer starts off by establishing the life of Susan (Nayanthara) and her happy family that includes her husband played by Vinay Rai and their daughter Haniya Nafisa, and how life was going well 24 hours before the national lockdown. Things, however, start to take a different turn 24 hours after the lockdown when everyone indoors begins noticing strange disturbances taking place in Susan's household. Sathyaraj, who plays Nayanthara's father in the film, reveals upon realizing the dread ahead that there is a supernatural entity that has taken over her daughter's physical body. Anupam Kher, a priest, is then introduced and informs us that an exorcism needs to be performed to ward off the evil spirit from their lives, with the rest of the Connect trailer giving us glimpses of the hair-raising moments that await audiences in theatres.

Director Ashwin Saravanan, who made heads turn with his writing and film-making in Maya, which also had Nayanthara, and the nationwide hit Game Over, starring Taapsee Pannu, is surely proving himself to be a connoisseur of horror thrillers and Connect from its first visuals looks to be a definite treat for fans. One other promising aspect of the film is that it has a runtime of 99 minutes thus ensuring the story has been packaged tightly and does not wander off from the story with unnecessary plot lines.
