Nadigar Sangam building to be demolished in 10 days

The 33-year old Nadigar Sangam building in T. Nagar, Chennai, will be demolished to make way for a new seven story building. The building, which was inaugurated in 1977 by the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran, had witnessed the humble South Indian movie industry rise to great heights. The building regularly hosts Nadigar Sangam meetings and the office is politically influential due to the history of Kollywood having stakes in Tamil Nadu politics. The building housed a screening hall, fitness centre, and an office of the Dubbing Artists' Association, which have been temporarily moved to an adjacent building.
