
Blockbuster Tamil film producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu's Naane Varuvean starring Dhanush and directed by Selvaraghavan has been released in cinemas worldwide today (September 29) taking a strong opening everywhere. The film has been highly anticipated among fans as it marks the reunion of Dhanush, Selvaraghavan, and composer Yuvan Shankar Raja after more than a decade. Thanu, who recently took part in an exclusive interview with Galatta for the promotions, who also opened up on the possibility of making a sequel to Kaakha Kaakha, which had Suriya and Jyotika in the lead roles and was directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon.

Upon being queried about Kaakha Kaakha 2, Kalaipuli S. Thanu stated, "Gautham should answer this. It can be done. I've already given an advance to Gautham. When he comes back, it will be yet another successful film for him." This is perhaps the first time the Tamil cinema stalwart has officially confirmed the likelihood of a sequel to Kaakha Kaakha, which went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of 2003 and proved to be a big game changer for Suriya, Jyotika, and Gautham Menon. Whether Kaakha Kaakha 2 will happen remains to be seen and fans will be keeping a close watch on the developments related to the project.
Kaakha Kaakha had Suriya playing the role of a police officer ACP Anbuselvan IPS, while Jyothika appeared as a school teacher named Maya, with their romance forming the core of the film's plot. The action thriller film was Gautham Menon's second directorial after Minnale (2001) and expectations were massive, with Harris Jayaraj's songs as well receiving a huge response.
