Leading Bengali music director and lyricist Anupam Roy has officially announced his separation from his wife, Piya Chakraborty, after six years of marital life. Anupam Roy and Piya Chakraborty got married in 2015 after being in a relationship for a few years. Following a six year married life, the couple has now decided to part ways owing to their independent interests and commitments. However, the couple mentioned that they would stay good friends.

The joint statement from Anupam Roy and Piya Chakraborty read, "We, Anupam and Piya, have mutually decided to conclude our marital relationship and pursue our own independent trajectories as friends. Our journey together has been a beautiful one, full of treasured experiences and happy memories. However, due to personal differences, we think it is best to part ways as husband and wife. We continue to be the closest of friends that we have always been and remain deeply invested in each other's well-being. We are grateful to all friends, family, and well-wishers who have supported us at each step so far. We request for your continued empathy and understanding to help us make this transition with privacy and dignity".

For the uninformed, Anupam Roy is best known for composing music for the critically acclaimed Amitabh Bachchan - Deepika Padukone starrer Piku, directed by Shoojit Sircar. Notably, Piku marked Anupam Roy's debut in Hindi cinema. Anupam Roy is currently working on the musical score of Abhishek Bachchan's upcoming Hindi film, Bob Biswas, which will have a direct OTT release on the Zee 5 platform very soon. Anupam Roy has worked on numerous Bengali films and he is one of the prominent composers in the Bengali film industry.
