Music awards must be given to computers: Yesudas

'Athishayaraagam', a book on legendary singer K.J. Yesudas by writer Ravi Menon, was released at a function in Kochi on Thursday. Yesudas officially released the book by handing over the first copy to singer Sujatha. Published by Mathrubhumi Books, the book explores the musical journey of Yesudas.

At the event, the singer said he pitied the current generation’s attitude towards music. "Music is indefinable. It is interpreted in one thousand ways by one thousand people. But whatever be the interpretation, the absolute bliss is obtained through pure music. But nowadays, music is getting mechanized. Computer does all the tuning and rhythm setting. In that case, I think that they should be receiving all the music awards and not singers," he said.

Music director Vidyadharan Master, singer Venugopal, singer Rajalakshmi, actor Prem Prakash, MLA M.V. Shreyams Kumar, journalist M.K. Das and others were present.
