Money Heist creator Álex Pina is teaming up with global streaming giant Netflix once again for a pandemic-inspired series, according to Deadline. The popular show creator, who is currently also working on a Money Heist spin-off centered on Pedro Alonso’s Berlin character, which is being planned to premiere in 2023, is now developing a show inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic and will revolve around a Spanish newspaper article about the increase in the purchase of bunkers during the period.

Álex Pina, who is also known for his work on shows like Sky Rojo and White Lines apart from Money Heist, stated that Netflix has given him complete freedom to write the upcoming pandemic-inspired show, which he has labeled to be 'risky and different'. According to Deadline, he stated, "Netflix has allowed me to produce risky and different projects, which have been written with total freedom. This new stage is an extension of trust as we stand alongside some of the most important creators of contemporary fiction and bridge the gaps that have existed until very recently between North America and the rest of the world."

The Vice President of Content Spain and Portugal of Netflix, Diego Ávalos too issued a statement celebrating Álex Pina and showered him with praises calling him an 'innovative and creative storyteller'. He said, "Pina is an innovative and creative storyteller who has inspired fans and aspiring creators around the world. After the great adventure that has been Money Heist, we are very excited to remain a home for him."
